Tax free school supplies
Well I blogged about this last year .. and I feel just about the same this year. I don’t see this as a huge incentive to buy supplies in a 9 day window and fight for aisle space like some feeding frenzy in shark infested waters.
But unlike last year, I waited this year to buy them and see how much I would save. Well after two hours on a weekday afternoon fighting to just get the basics, I came out with a whopping savings of about $5.
I’m not talking about clothing, just paper, pencils, crayons…
I don’t get it. I guess I’m the exception. I have two kids and $5 worth of savings just isn’t worth the two hours and mountain of frustration I felt at fighting the crowds, the empty shelves where duo-tang folders should have been and having to pick between a package of 10 erasers or none at all when all I needed was one. I won’t wait next year. Two hours isn’t worth $5.
Now that I think about it, because I had to buy bigger quantities on some items than I needed, I probably didn’t save a dime.
