Bicycling BikeTown USA 2005

A while back I read about Bicycling’s program BikeTown USA and Bike to Work and how this year Orlando was selected as one of the 10 cities to participate this year. In each city, they would be giving bikes to 50 participants who would share with them how the gift of a bike would change their life. Now they’ve expanded to 20 cities! That’s 1000 bikes!

Participants take part in a program where they commit to using the bike daily for the duration of the program. Bicycling “will follow participants in each town to find out how -if at all- the bicyles are affecting their lives, health, and daily routines.” They will share their findings on a monthly basis via Bicycling magazine. What a wonderful concept and program!

The Orlando BikeTown 2005 ceremony will take place on Monday, May 9th, at 5:00pm, in Baldwin Park. You’ll see me there!
