Seriously sweet! Just found out about the new switch and must say I’m loving this station! I remember when they used to have oldies on this station a couple of years ago and was sad to see them move to a new station and then disappear completely. It’s good to see a station like this around again.

LOVE THE MUSIC!!! I’ve noticed they don’t always play the tune all they way thru. which sometimes is the best part! anybody else heard this

Well, I think it might have a lot to do with fiscal viability as well. Think about the demographics as Matt mentioned. As someone who is involved in marketing and advertising, the desirability and ROI of using radio as a way to reach the mid 20’s to mid 30’s demographic is shrinking if not altogether gone for all intents and purposes. When you have the option to better reach that audience online in a more direct and measurable manner with incredibly superior value on your dollar, radio quickly dries up as something you would even consider dropping a dime into.

I know of ALL the mediums I have access to radio would be the absolute last place I would spend a marketing dollar. Not because it’s so horrible, but because everything else is so much better.

I’m gonna guess that the format change had something to do with ratings and getting more of them, Anastasia…given Orlando’s reputation as a haven for retirees, this station is probably right in the “sweet spot” for that demographic.

You know, guys, I love the oldies stuff. I like hearing it. I would rather listen to that than to some of the annoying things they talk about and play on 101.1, but why would they take away a radio station that people were actually listening to only to replace it with something completely different?

This reminds me of 103.1. That was also a very sad day. Of course, it was coming for a long time, with all the transitions and what not, and the “Alternative”, so to speak, music they began to play towards the end was beginning to get hard to listen to.. But 105.9 could in no way be compared to 103.1, and now we have a void in our musical selection.

Very disappointing. Go oldies, damn the man.

Lauren, at age 14, it’s great that you’re so enthusiastic about these songs. (It’s a bit disappointing that your mind is already so closed to other musical styles, but anyway…)

When you get to be my age (and hey, 31 ain’t even that old), you might get a bit sick of hearing “Love Shack” on the radio. Trust me on this.

Everyone should have a wider appreciation of music. I really can’t respect a person’s musical tastes if they cancel out broad swaths of music from their potential pool of experiences like saying they hate rap or hate oldies. You’d do yourself a lot of good trying out new things and not limiting yourself.

Great new station! A lot better than that rock nonsense. Wish they’d play a bit more sixties than they do though, but oh well. Have tons on my ipod anyways.

I’m 14 and I’d rather here this than that O-Rock nonsense. Why anyone would want to listen to music that makes you feel angry is beyond me. The thing about Sunny 105.9 is that it’s music that makes you feel GOOD.

I guess Ulysses (is it like the Roman translation of the Odyssey, or is it more like Ulysses Everett McGill off of O Brother Where Art Though?)
