Orlando Shows Its Gusto Against Nazis.
They came, they heil’ed, and then they high-tailed it out of there. Members of the National Socialist Movement conducted a march and rally that ended in front of the federal courthouse in Downtown. Too bad for them they were outnumbered by about 10-to-1 by those in opposition to their little pow wow. Various groups such as UCF’s Campus Peace Action, Operation Be Cool, Project Darfur, and a few others.
“I’ve got more people than that in my own club,” said Matt De Vlieger, chair of the Progressive Council at UCF.
The turnout of the Nazis was a little disappointing I thought. I was hoping that there would be more but this just goes to show that this anitquated way of thinking isn’t very popular here in Orlando. I wonder if they would consider this some sort of victory or a horrible failure?
The small contingent of Nazis, who had a legal permit to march and hold a rally, ended things early. They had a permit that allowed them to stay from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. but they hardly made it past 3 p.m. So much for standing for your ideals. The group marched to their cars escorted by a large police presence and left under the scornful gaze of following protestors.
The worst thing about this rally is how much police time and effort had to be devoted to it. When our police officers could have been better serving the community they had to waste their time with this nonsense. Police arrested 17 people, most of them were from the protest side. From what I heard a large group of them were anarchists, but I’m not sure why police arrested them. One small fight occured toward the front of the protest crowd and a man was arrested but I don’t know how it happened. I almost didn’t make it in because I had a bag with me. Luckily I saw someone I knew and I stowed it in their nearby car. Police didn’t let any bags, sticks, bottles, umbrellas, or anything that could cause harm near the rally.
It was suprising that so many people came out to protest such a small group. I think it shows that racism and ignorance have no place in Orlando. Perhaps our community is not as apathetic as we think it is.

I would suggest that repeating the Nazis “high-tailed it out of there”, “retreated”, “ran”, etc., is going to have no effect whatsoever on reality. That is the weakness of antis from the coffee shop to the newsroom: their view of the world and its people and history are very different from reality.
You can spin it how you like, but these Nazis are not isolated from society, are not outsiders, are not crazy, are not “bad”, are no longer “fringe”, and obviously have some political clout if they can force the System to put on a show of power in the hopes of intimidating them.
Spinning is a form of denial and will not prevent hundreds of people in the Central Florida area from joining the NSM, nor will denial prevent the System from being replaced by something acceptable to Whites. In fact, your denial of reality alienates you from the people and makes you increasingly strange as they are unable to match the picture you paint to what they see and experience each day in real life.
And then there is the internet. The people don’t HAVE to take your word for it anymore ;)
You know, even though we obviously don’t see eye-to-eye I’m glad that someone finally made a point and articulated it well enough.
You make excellent points though. I think the protest would have been better served if no one showed up to give them the pleasure. The fact is that would have been impossible to organize. So, do we let only a few people show up and it looks like the community is apathetic toward this sort of thing, or do we show up en masse to let them know that they aren’t welcome? It’s a Catch-22.
This is why this whole thing intrigues me so much and why I would love to have an interview with Bill White and try to understand their goals and desires. I want to hear answers without all of the hate speech and badly scrawled statistics.
I don’t think I have a denial of reality, just an opinion. You make some good points in your comment though, and I appreciate you making them.
Great article and pictures. I couldn’t be there, but would have loved to have gone. Read about it in the paper the next day and was glad to hear if was a “peace-ful” protest with minimal arrests.
The NSM as the nerve to do what most American Whites only talk about at their dinner tables! If you are White and you didn’t stand with the NSM you should be ashamed of yourself! The NSM stands for the White race, the MAJORITY race… remember that word. The SUPREME COURT has 9 judges of which 2 are jews. That means a group of people that are 2% of the US population has 22.5% interest & influence over the supreme courts decisions. Oh, by the way, how do you enjoy paying for that Kosher tax on such items as Cascade, Soft Scrub to milk ? Do you think the government and people would sit back if the Pope demanded that the Catholic Church be allowed to bless all items consumed by Americans? No way .. but at least Catholics consist of more than 2% of the population! So, why do we the Majority need to by inflated consumer items with the Kosher tax on it? Yes, the corporations make a “donation” to the Rabbi for yes blessings!

Is this lady serious? After all the MAJORITY did to coloreds in the South? With Jim Crow laws and cases like the Dred Scott decision which claimed that slaves and slave descendents were merely property? That blacks were treated the same as chairs on the kitchen floor. Blacks that were mangled and lynched at the drop of a hat. They had to fight for much of what they had today and even today, they’re still at the bottom of the socio-economic ladder. I find it redicioulous when whites refer to themselves as second class. Perhaps Chris Rock said it best when he said ‘If you guys are losing, then who is winning? It sure isn’t us.’
I’m not a huge fan of things like affirmative action but if it can prevent the bigotry that took place only 40 years ago, I’m all for it. By the way - I’m a slavic Catholic. If it were up to the Nazis people like me would be used for slaves. So yeah, to hell with democracy. Lets start taking everyone’s basic civil rights away. You’re crazy lady.
