Harry Potter Night

Last evening was Harry Potter night all over the world, and Orlando was no exception. We spent the night working the crowd at the Oviedo Marketplace Barnes and Noble…registering folks for games, handing out their little wristbands that determined the order they could get their books at midnight…I even read the first chapter of the book at 12:01 to the folks waiting. (It was about 50-50 on those who loved it and those who wanted to strangle me for “spoiling it” for them.)

Pictures uploaded to Flickr.

Oh, and before someone starts in about how lame it is dressing up in Harry Potter costumes and standing around at midnight waiting for a book that could have been bought off the internet, I’d just like to say how sad I am for you. It must suck to be old. :)

That was you reading? I was there with my friend. We were orange-wristband-people. We had so much fun watching all of the little kids dressed up (and some of the grownups, too) There was a little girl who was the spitting image of Hermione-she was adorable! We thought we were going to have to help you fight off the angry mob as you started reading… you’re pretty gutsy!

Heh. When I said, “Who wants to hear the first chapter?” there was a loud roar. Then, I almost crapped my pants when I asked, “Who doesn’t want to hear it?” and there was an even LOUDER roar.

Of course, it didn’t stop me from saying, “Fine. You lot wait outside, then.” :p

I would have liked to have done a book release party. I’ll have to make sure I do next time, since it’ll be my last chance! Great pics, thanks for sharing :)
