Studio 6

studio 6.gifThis past week my kids and I visited Studio 6 in Dr. Phillips. If you aren’t familiar with the name, it’s a “paint your own pottery studio”. We spent about 2 1/2 hours in there selecting a piece of bisque (dinner plates) and then painting it.

I had the idea a few months back that it would be a great way to chronicle the kids art work on something practical. I have so much artwork all over the place on my frige and desk, I thought this would be a great way to experience it everyday.

The studio people were very helpful. We were there on Thursday afternoon and there wasn’t much traffic in the store (one other table only). The studio offered a variety of books for inspiration as well as a bunch of stencils, templates, rubber stamps, etc.

The pieces weren’t very expensive. Most ranged from about $10 up. However there is a $5-$9 studio FEE per piece that covers the cost of putting the piece in the kiln and glazing it. They do have specials on certain days that give you a discount on the fees.
