The Miracle Of the Carp?
A religious revival of some sort has sprung up near the corner of 436 and Curry Ford. I saw it while I was driving home from work last week. It’s a makeshift tent with chairs underneath. A nearby sign reads “El Milagro De La Carpa,” translated as “The Miracle Of the Carp.” A couple of nights, I’ve seen large groups of people there, singing or listening to a preacher.
It seems a strange place for a revival, on a busy street known for its strip malls and auto lots.
I wonder what the miracle of the carp is. Perhaps it’s an allusion to Jesus feeding the multitudes with a few fish and loaves of bread? The Bible didn’t specify that the fish were carp, but…well, I’m curious about this carp now.
