Sad Promo Poster

On the window outside Waldenbooks at the Fashion Square Mall, there’s a big poster that says “BOOKS DON’T GET ANGRY WHEN YOU CRY.” It has a picture of some Nicholas Sparks weeper novel underneath.

It was supposed to be some kind of Valentine’s Day promo, but it struck me as rather sad and pathetic. I just picture some poor girl sitting at home, hugging her copy of The Notebook and sobbing uncontrollably:

Derek used to hit me when I cried. But now that I have Waldenbooks, I can cry as much as I want! Thanks, Waldenbooks!

Of course, I’m kinda morbid like that.

I was in the mall again today, and I realized that I’d remembered the poster wrong. It actually said “Books don’t HATE IT when you cry.” D’oh! I’m a dork. Well, it’s still kind of a depressing poster.

Oh, and the other poster said something like “Books don’t mind when you see other people. That’s love.” I was all, WTF?!? Is Waldenbooks advocating infidelity? :)
